Social Factors

Influences on Health and Wellbeing

Humans are social animals and all seven billion of us on the planet engage in, and require, social interaction to maintain a balanced and healthy existence. Those with whom we interact range from family and close friends to different community groups, acquaintances and those we might deal with on a single occasion, or very infrequent basis. This film explores the nature of those social factors that play a major part in our health and wellbeing – including family and friends, community groups, social class and socialisation. As well as street interviews, commentary is offered from a range of experts including Julia Twigg from the University of Kent, social worker Ben Hoskins, Kilburn Youth Centre youth worker Fola Reis, and London Metropolitan University’s Peter Hodgkinson. It is an invaluable resource for senior secondary and FE students of health-related disciplines.
