Metric Units: Length, Mass and Capacity

You can use metric units to measure anything – from a grain of sand to the whole wide world! This fun program takes us from the beach to the kitchen to explain the metric units used to measure length, mass and capacity. Starting at the beach, we use sand, shells and the entire beach to demonstrate metres and their counterparts; millimetres, centimetres and kilometres. Next, we move to the kitchen and learn how to use a centimetre ruler, before weighing a variety of household items in grams and kilograms. Finally, we must measure capacity – using litres, millilitres, and cups – to make a date and walnut loaf.
