How Cells Work Together
Understanding Life Systems: Cells
In unicellular organisms, the single cell performs all life functions. In multicellular organisms, cells are organised into tissues, organs and organ systems. A group of similar cells that work together to perform a specific function is called tissue. An organ is made of different kinds of tissue that function together. The level of organisation in an organism increases in complexity, from cells to tissues, to organs, and finally to organ systems.
