On 11 November, nations around the world will commemorate Armistice Day in tribute to the millions of soldiers who perished during World War I. Though it ended over a hundred years ago, the conflict still reverberates in the global consciousness as one of the most devastating and deadly wars ever fought. The First World War was fought on a scale never seen before. This video investigates the many complex causes of the conflict. Students will learn about the system of alliances that contributed to the powder keg that was Europe in 1914, as well as the spark that ignited the Great War.
