When a digital projector is connected to a laptop for a presentation, the performance of the system will suffer if it is using a dual output mode. That is - the video controller on the laptop is creating two seperate output signals: one for the laptop, and one for the projector. Common symptoms include a 'skipping' mouse cursor and video/audio not being in sync.
This article explains the process of rectifying the problem by putting the laptop into CRT mode.
Step 1) Press the button/key/command that is used to toggle the various screen modes on your laptop. This will be different depending on your laptop manufacturer and model. Please visit your laptop manufactures website to find which button to press for this function.
If the projector is receiving a signal, but the LCD screen on your laptop has turned off - then you are in the optimal screen mode. This mode will offer the best performance for a presentation.
Step 2) However, if the projector is receiving the signal and the LCD screen on your laptop is still displaying the operating system, you will need to press the toggle key/s once more to leave this mode.
Note: You can toggle through the modes as many times as you wish until you find the appropriate setting, eventually you will be taken to the normal screen mode (laptop screen displays pictures/projector receives no signal).
