This tutorial provides a short introduction to the ClickView Learning Object Manager, included in the 1.7 release of the ClickView Library Manager.

Opening the Learning Object Manager

Open ClickView Library Server/Manager and click "Tools" from the menu options and choose "Learning Object Manager". This action will initiate the manager.

The first time the Learning Object Manager is run, there will be no learning objects displayed. You will need to connect to a LORAX proxy server to retrieve a list of available objects. By default, ClickView's LORAX proxy server is selected. Click the green arrow to connect.

After the summary of available items is downloaded, the Learning Object Manager will download the meta data for each Learning Object.

Searching and Browsing Learning Objects

To search, click on the search tab then enter your search term(s) in the search box. Below the search box are more options to narrow down the search criteria. Click the search button to search.

The title, category and tags will be displayed. For more information, double click the item to view its details.

You may also choose to browse through the categories on the overview tab. You can view the details of a Learning Object by right clicking the Learning Object, then selecting Details.

Importing Learning Objects from a LORAX Proxy Server

You can either download individual Learning Objects or a whole Learning Object category.

Downloading individual Learning Objects

Right click a the desired Learning Object on the overview tab and select download. If you are viewing the Learning Objects details, then select the download button.

You will be asked to select a ClickView category to import to. Select a category and click OK.

Note: You will not be able to select a category if the Learning Object has already been downloaded to it.

The Download tab will show you the progress of the Learning Object. If it has not started then press the green download arrow.

Downloading a Learning Objects Category

You can drag and drop Learning Object category into a ClickView category on the Overview tab. This will download all the Learning Objects in the category.

Any new updates can be added by dragging the category again. Learning Objects already in the Library will not be imported again.

Importing Learning Objects from a local source

You may import learning objects distributed via CD rather that importing from a LORAX proxy server.
Change the Source to "Local Source" then browse to the folder or drive that contain the Learning Objects. Once selected, click the green arrow to search for any Learning Objects.

Note: The Learning Objects will need to be SCORM compliant. An indicator of this is that they are in zip format.

Creating and Deleting ClickView categories

You may create a ClickView category first before importing a Learning Object into it. Simply right click on the parent category and select "New Folder".

You can delete a category by selecting "Remove Folder". You will not be ale to delete a category if it has any sub categories. You will need to delete these first.

Opening Learning Objects from your ClickView Library Server

Any PC or Mac in the school that is running ClickView Player 1.4 will be able to open the learning objects that you have just added to your ClickView Library Server.
