ClickView recommends that you set up the Backup Utility to back up daily to minimize data loss, and time to recover, in the unfortunate event that your data is lost.

Step 1 - Open the Backup Utility

Open the ClickView Library Server interface, select "Tools" from the top menu and click on "Backup Utility".

Step 2 - Select the Backup Path for ClickView Library Server Data

Click on the browse button ".." in the "Backup Target Path for ClickView Library Server Data" section and select the target backup folder. This path can be referenced to either a local drive (internal or external) or a network drive.

Please note that the folder cannot be on the same logical drive.

Step 3 - Schedule Backup

Next tick the "Schedule Backup" box if you wish to schedule the backup utility to run automatically. Choose from daily, weekly or monthly frequency and the time to run.

The scheduled times can only be set between 6PM and 6AM to prevent disruptions during normal usage hours. The backup process will automatically pause at other times.

To disable scheduling the backup utility simply un-tick the box.

Step 4 - Start the Backup Process

Click on the "Apply" button to save your settings. Then click the 'Begin Backup' button to begin the ClickView Library Server backup process.

Step 5 - Running the Backup Process

During the backup process the Backup Utility will display the number of files that have been backed up, the number of files that need to be backed up, and the total number of files found within your database.

Each time the Backup Utility is executed only the files that have been recently modified, or not backed up, will be copied. Thus the number of files to back up may not match the total number of files within your database as some may have been already backed up.

In the screen shot below 28 out of 43 files have been copied. Note that there are a total of 575 files in the database, however only 43 need to be backed up.

Step 6 - Confirm Completion

Once the backup process has completed, simply close the backup utility.

Backup Failures

When the backup process completes you will be notified if it encountered any errors whilst copying the files. All errors will be logged to the ClickView Library Server log file "ClickViewLibraryLog.txt", which can be found in the ClickView Library installation folder.
