By default, ClickView Library Server grants 'Staff'
privileges to all ClickView Player users. That is, both students and
teachers are able to create ClickView lessons and publish videos to PowerPoint (Windows Media Player format).
It is highly recommended that your school's ClickView Staff Access
is configured correctly so that only teachers and staff are able to add
ClickView Lessons to the ClickView Library Server.
The Staff Access Configuration feature can be accessed from the ClickView Library application through the Tools menu.
The default value of the Active Directory user role is
'Everyone'. This value simply tells the ClickView Player that all
ClickView users should have access to the Lesson creation facility.
By replacing this value with the Active Directory user group of
staff members, ClickView Player will restrict student access to
ClickView's lesson managament features.
Your school network's Active Directory setup is controlled by
the network domain server. Active Directory is supported by Windows
2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server.
Although the Active Directory configuration varies considerably from network to network, it generally uses the following form:
domain\user group
Some example Active Directory user group values are:
SchoolName\Teachers
SchoolName\Staff
SchoolName\Power Users
SchoolName\ClickViewLessonAuthors
ClickView 1.1 introduced a teacher password feature which
provides an alternative to the Active Directory authentication method
stated above.
A ClickView Player user may enter this password to be granted access to the Lesson Management tools.
