Features Added in ClickView Player 1.6 for Mac OS X

  1. Subtitle Support

ClickView Player for Mac OSX 1.6.0 now displays Subtitles (if available) during video playback.

  2. Volume Control

Features Added in ClickView Player 1.4 for Mac OS X

  1. Audio, Images and Learning Objects.

ClickView Player for Mac OS X 1.4.0 allows Mac users to have the same experience as Windows users, with the ability to play Podcasts/Audio files, Images and Learning Objects.

  2. Exporting videos to PowerPoint/Intranet with ClickView Player for Mac OS X

ClickView Player for Mac OSX 1.4.0 allows users to export videos to Quicktime format which then can be inserted into a PowerPoint presentation using Microsoft Office for Mac.

    i) The export function is only available to staff members, so you will need to authenticate as a staff member first, by going to Tools in the menu bar and clicking on Staff Authentication.
Note: The ClickView Library Server that you are connecting must have a staff password entered, otherwise the player cannot authenticate with the server.

ii) Right click on the video you wish to export and select the "Export to PowerPoint/Intranet" option.

iii) Drag the handles to select the part of the video you wish to export, then select the quality of the video that will be exported.

  3. iv) The custom quality option is for advanced users, and allows the user over more control over export settings such as Video bitrate, compression used and resolution.

Features Added in ClickView Player 1.3 for Mac OS X

  1. ClickView 1.3 supports user authentication for restricting staff-only ClickView functionality (i.e. adding and editing lessons).

To allow access to the restricted staff-only ClickView functionality:

    i) Click on the 'Tools' menu.
ii) Click on the 'Staff Authentication' menu and enter the password.

Once validated, the user will have access to the Staff tools.

  2. ClickView 1.3 has support for creating, modifying and deleting lessons.

The user, with sufficient access privileges, can access the tools to enable them to create and modify lessons through the 'Tools' menu.

However, the Apple Mac OS X ClickView Player cannot be used as a sub-server.

  3. ClickView 1.3 allows videos to be password protected. Any video that is part of the ClickView Library Server can be password protected so that only those users that know the password may watch the video or add it to their School Bag.

  4. The ClickView School Bag allows a user to transfer content from the ClickView Library Server anywhere on the user's computer. The content is then accessible by the user at any time, even whilst not connected to a ClickView Library Server. (i.e. when at home)

To add content into your School Bag, simply Control-Click on the item and select "Add to School Bag".

If a ClickView School Bag is present within your ClickView data folder, the School Bag feature will automatically appear when ClickView Player is started.

  5. ClickView 1.3 supports a new feature to allow the user to change the location of the data folder where the ClickView Player stores it's active video cache once obtained from the ClickView Library Server. This folder contains all the necessary temporary data that is downloaded from the ClickView Library Server to view the videos and execute the extra resources. It also contains all the content and information for the ClickView School Bag.

This feature can be accessed from the 'Tools' under 'Set Working Folder'. To change the current working folder:

    i) Click on the 'Tools' menu.
ii) Click on the 'Set Working Folder'
iii) Click on the 'Select New' button and choose the new working folder.
iv) Click on the 'Apply' button to set the new working folder.

This procedure will move all the current data from the current working folder to the new folder. This may take a few minutes if the user has a large amount of content.

  6. ClickView Player for Mac OS X 1.3 supports the new ClickView WebStart feature. Teachers can insert direct links to ClickView content into e-learning portals, intranet pages and your library cataloguing software.

Thus it is now easier than ever to integrate video into your existing learning tools, whilst utilising the power of the ClickView platform.

    To use this feature:

    i) Select the video or resource you would like to link and Control-Click on it.
ii) Select 'Generate ClickView LinkStart URL'
iii) To view the selected video or resource simply open the hyperlink. ClickView Player for Mac should start and the video or resource will load.

Please note that this feature is only accessible through the teacher tools section which requires authorisation.
